Here’s a character I’ve been working on for a while. I can’t explain who she is yet, but hopefully she successfully makes it out into the world soon enough.

I wanted to have some fun with those abstract, dry-brush backgrounds I’ve grown fond of. I like drawing figures so much, but I sometimes feel compelled to then draw a scene around one, when really all I really want to do is focus on the figure itself. The abstract backgrounds let me maintain that focus.

It’s Alucard from Castlevania: Symphony of the Night! This is the second piece in this series, after my Maria Renard illustration. I wanted to convey that classic vampire smouldering loneliness — and those beautiful locks!

Happy Spooktober! 🦇🌕 It’s my favourite time of the year, so here’s a vampire lady revelling in the moonlight to show how much I love the season. I had a lot of fun applying colour to this and getting the moonlight glow.

I went back and forth on how much detail to put into the castle background; in the end I decide to focus on the character. This was super fun to draw!
